What a difference a day makes (and a few miles)!!

Now you can all see the family picture below taken in beautiful sunny Orem on May 23. This picture was taken at Snowbird the next day, May 24!! Snowbird is only about 30 miles from Orem. We went up to spend the week at Snowbird, leaving right after Tanner's blessing and lunch. It snowed that night and by the next morning we had about 10-12 inches of new snow. Our 3 Texas boys; Dave, Evan, and Jared had great fun in the snow.
On Saturday, May 22, 2010, many of our family members went to the Mt. Timpanogos Temple where Tanner was sealed to Matt and Jessica in a beautiful, simple ceremony. Now he is part of our family forever. This was a very special day. Please go to Matt and Jessica's family blog to see more pictures of the occasion. In this picture, Jessica and Chloe get a hug from our very sweet cousin, Christine Timothy.
Sunday, May 23, 2010, Tanner received his name and a beautiful blessing from his father. Dave and Tammy arrived late the night before to join us for the occasion. We were so happy to have most of our family together. We just wish Michelle's family could have been there. After church we went to Aaron and Diane's (Jessica's aunt and uncle) beautiful home for lunch. This picture was taken in their backyard. Through all the celebration, Tanner was a happy little boy full of smiles.

Wonderful Things Happening

On May 19 we met Matt, Jessica, Chloe, Landon, and Tanner along with some other happy family members at the Courthouse in Provo. With a short question and answer period with the judge and lots of paperwork, Tanner became an official member of the family.
We are so happy to have this special little boy as part of our family.

It's Springtime in the Rockies

These pretty tulips in our yard tell us it is spring. We have had warm and cold weather this last week. There has been sun, clouds, rain, snow, wind, warmth, and cold. I love experiencing all the seasons, sometimes all in one day!! On Friday evening we flew to Denver to visit the Goodman Family. Eric and Kyle picked us up at the airport. It was so good to see all of them.
Early on Saturday we went with Eric and Kyle to Kyle's soccer game. It brought back lots of memories of many Saturday soccer games with our own kids. Sometimes we would have 3 0r 4 games on the same day to watch and enjoy!!

It was team picture day.

Saturday afternoon we took Emily to her gymnastics class and got to see her do some great flips and jumps. We took Kyle to lunch at Subway and then to Target to get a toy he had been saving his money for. That evening we went with Lindsey to a play at the high school. It was fun to have a date with our granddaughter.

Sunday after church and lunch we drove south a bit to a hiking trail up a little mountain. Melodie, Eric, Sammy, Lucky (their cute dogs) and Kayla, Lindsey, Emily, and I made the trip. On our hike we experienced thunder, lightening, and snow. (Yes snow on May 2.) The snow was like little styrofoam pellets falling on us. It was really fun and beautiful. That evening we enjoyed playing games and watching family pictures.

We arrived home safely on Monday afternoon to find our red tulips blooming beautifully. We enjoyed our visit very much.

Snowstorms, Gargage Sales, Tulips, and Goose Eggs!!

This goose on the rocks by the waterfall at Thanksgiving Point seems to be protecting one BIG goose egg!!
Today was a beautiful day here in Utah!! We were supposed to be in Colorado visiting the Goodman family. It snowed across Wyoming and Colorado yesterday with bad road warnings issued so we didn't make the trip yesterday. We thought we could go today but when we got up at 4 and checked the road conditions we found that I-80 was closed from Rawlins to Cheyenne. We are so sorry to miss the visit and the girl's piano recital but we will try again soon for the visit. We decided to go to some garage sales with Becky and Adam to find some much needed baby things for Adam. Since Dad had the morning off from the bakery he came with us. We started in American Fork and progressed south to Orem. The first few were duds and we didn't find anything but then we found a very nice wooden rocker for $20. It needs a little touching up but it is strong and sturdy. My very good friend Billie (the garage sale expert and queen) had sent Becky some money as a baby gift and we felt it was so appropriate that we used that gift for a garage sale gem!! We had to enlist Grandpa to come and pick it up for us in his van. Luckily it was only a few blocks from his house. He asked if we wanted him to follow us to some more in case we found somethings else too big for the car. We said the only other big things we were looking for was a crib or a dresser and we didn't think there would be much chance of that so he went home. Well of course you know that we found a crib in great condition at the next sale. It was still in Orem but a little further away from Grandpa's house. So he was sweet and came back and picked up the crib. We also got a cute bedding set that went with.. We went on to some sales in Provo and found a few more books and toys but not much. We stopped for lunch at Los Hermonos (UMMM) and then went back to Becky's and Grandpa delivered our treasures. Scott missed all the fun because he was at work. Dad and I wanted to go to the tulip festival at Thanksgiving Point and Becky and Adam decided to come with us while Scott studied for finals. We sure wish he could have joined us. It was a beautiful walk on a perfect day.

You should have been there to "tiptoe through the tulips" with us.

Adam and Becky are enjoying the beautiful day and the beautiful gardens.

There are 250,000 tulips planted at Thanksgiving Point. Becky said she never dreamed there were so many different kinds and colors of tulips.

We also saw this owl sitting on a ledge by the waterfall.

A very nice lady who seemed to be a professional photographer offered to take a picture of the 4 of us saying that the grandparents should be in the picture with the cute baby and Mom.

This waterfall is said to be the one of the largest man made waterfalls in the world. Becky and Adam are standing in front of a small part of it.

These are some of the most unusual tulips we saw today.

We visited the children's garden where Becky found a lighthouse to climb.

So Much to Be Thankful For

We were so happy to welcome Tanner McKade Nix to our family on November 13, 2009. He joined Matt, Jessica, Chloe, and Landon. Matt and Jessica got to bring him home from the hospital on Monday, November 16. He received a warm welcome from his excited sister, brother, and grandparents.
On November 20 we drove to Castle Rock to visit the Goodman Family. It was so fun to see all of them. I went to see the movie "New Moon" with the girls on Saturday and we also took all of the kids shopping for Christmas presents. They all promised to forget their choices so they will be surprised on Christmas morning. We went to church with them on Sunday after a visit to Michelle's grave and enjoyed good food, family home evening, and games on Sunday evening. We drove home on Monday. I love my grandkids!!
I helped Lindsey make this cute skirt for her YW personal progress award. We cut it out on Friday evening and sewed on it all day Saturday in between movies and shopping. We learned a lot and had fun together and had some great help and support from Emily.

Family Halloween Party

Last Sunday, November 1, we gathered for a post Halloween Party so the cousins could share their costumes and have fun together. We started with taco soup and pumpkin mousse for dinner and then played games. We played Halloween Bingo.

We also played pin the eyes on the ghost and a game of pass the hot pumpkin. Here you see Addy passing the pumpkin to Landon.

Here we are in our costumes. Easton had the cutest little monkey costume complete with banana but he was done wearing it by Sunday. I am a happy little Christmas elf in case you are wondering.

Here is a group shot of all the happy party animals.
